Last night I attended the Boston Beer Brewery dinner at Post 390, an incredible event which featured delicious food by Post 390 Executive Chef Eric Brennan, paired with great Sam Adams beers. The dinners’ proceeds benefited the Brewing the American Dream program, an initiative started by Sam Adams founder Jim Koch (who was in attendance!) to help small food and beverage businesses through micro-lending and coaching. Jim Koch spoke about how the program was inspired by the challenges that he faced in getting loans when he first started his business.
The food was incredible! The evening started with a reception and hors d’oeuvres including bluefish pastrami on irish red beer bred and scallop ceviche in a grapefruit ipa marinade. The hors d’oeuvres were paired with Samuel Adams Boston Lager, which Jim Koch mentioned is the beer he always keeps in his fridge! The first course was an incredible Lobster Ravioli paired with a Samuel Adams Winter Lager. The entree course was a Pekin Duck Breast paired with a Samuel Adams Tetravis.
For dessert, we enjoyed an incredible spread of lovely sweets — doughnuts, macarons, chocolate cubes, and brioche bread pudding with cream stout caramel. Everything was amazing! We left with packages of delicious brownies from Carlene O'Garro. Carlene is one of the Brewing the American Dream loan recipients! She heads Delectable Desires Pastries, a bake shop that has been around for about 8 years, just recently opened up a shop in West Roxbury! I'm definitely planning a trip there in the near future (and planning to return to Post 390)!
