Champagne & Afternoon Tea at the Mandarin Oriental, Boston
December 22, 2016
I had such a blast checking out the December Champagne & Afternoon Tea Pop-up at the Mandarin Oriental, Boston this week. Located in the hotel’s Lobby Lounge, the spectacular champagne and tea service is offered this month, Wednesday to Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday to Sunday from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. The pop-up is an awesome creation done in partnership with Champagne Taittinger and Dammann Frères Tea.
When I visited with a friend, we started with a glass of Champagne Taittinger Brut La Française.
Then, we were then presented with a selection of the Dammann Frères Teas to choose from. I chose the Jasmine Green Tea and my friend chose the Sencha Green Tea. Both were perfect on the cold afternoon we visited!
Then came our three-tiered presentation of goodies by the incredibly talented Pastry Chef Robert Differ! The first row was a selection of tea sandwiches including a Waldorf chicken salad sandwich, cucumber and herb cheese sandwich, a deviled egg salad sandwich, and a smoked salmon sandwich with dill cream.
On the second tier, an assortment of delicious french pastries, including my favorite, the lemon macaron.
On top, two scones — a locally-harvested cranberry scone and a seasonal currant scone, served with a Devonshire cream, strawberry jam, and orange marmalade.
