I had an awesome time this weekend judging Painted Burro’s 5th Annual Guac Off to support Share our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign. This was my second year judging, and I think the competition got even fiercer!
I was judging with Matthew Simko of @SimkoSays, Caitlin Croswell of @CaitPlusAte, and Michael Page, a meteorologist at NBC Boston.
Anyway, 10 people entered their guacamoles into the competition, and they were scored on creativity, flavor, presentation, and wow factor.
The winners received a $400 gift card to Painted Burro, unlimited reservations for a year, and the chance to have their guacamole on the Painted Burro menu for a week!
The crazy part was that there was a tie for the winner this year! One was the “Chorizo con Queso” and the other was “Anything but plain-tain-amole.”
If you’ve never been to Painted Burro before, you should definitely go. It’s one of my favorite spots. Check out their full menu here. They’re located at 219 Elm Street in Somerville.
