I had an awesome dinner this weekend at Publico, a great spot in Southie that opened up earlier this year. I’ve been dying to try it since they’ve opened after hearing great things and seeing pictures of their space, which includes a beautiful atrium.
We started our dinner with some great cocktails — the Frida, a drink of tequila, watermelon, St. Germain, and lime. We also tried and loved the Jack Talk Thai, a super delicious drink of vodka, orgeat, lime, and pineapple.
To start, their perrito caliente, a hot dog with poblano chili, pineapple salsa, bacon, and lime mayo. Also, their empanadas, which were one of my favorites, and came stuffed with serrano ham, mahon cheese, and piccalilli.
For balance, some grilled asparagus!
Then, some super delicious charred octopus. My friend and I both agreed that it was our favorite octopus that we’ve tried in the Boston-area — finally one that’s not too chewy and made just right!
For our entrees, one of Publico’s new summer dishes, the Scallops Spaghettini, and their Pollo Asado.
For dessert, a delicious cheese, topped with caramel and paired with blood orange. The perfect way to end a great meal!
Check out Publico’s full menu here. They’re located at 11 Dorchester Street in Boston.
They’ve also just started serving brunch! I can’t wait to check that out.
