This weekend I got a little preview of some new fall menu items at Life Alive, one of my favorite healthy lunch spots in Cambridge.
Life Alive is a great vegetarian spot that I have been visiting for years. Since I was a freshman at Harvard, it was our go-to spot for a healthy lunch or dinner, and only about a 15-20 minute walk from my dorm to Central Square. Five years later I’m still going whenever I have a chance.
Anyway, I was so impressed with all of the new additions to the menu — Life Alive’s Chef Leah Dubois has created some great new fall drinks and dishes for the menu.
The new additions included a delicious new spicy pineapple drink, some new vegan chocolate truffles (I’m so excited Life Alive is finally getting into dessert!), and one of my favorites — a new peanut sauce salad bowl, the Tofu Peanut Satay.

Here’s a full list of what I tried, some of the fall newcomers to the Life Alive Menu:
Tonic: a drink of fresh juiced ripe pineapples, mint, jalapeños, green apple, and cilantro
Devil Eggs: eggs topped with spiced cashew aioli, pickled jalapeño, smoked paprika, and sea salt
Aphrodite Hummus Bowl: a bowl of hummus, marinated cauliflower, baby tomato, radish, cucumber, olive, pickled carrots, spicy lemon miso vinaigrette, and zucchini chips
Street Corn: corn with lemon garlic cashew aioli, pickled pink onions, smoky yeast
Tofu Peanut Satay: a bowl of crispy cucumber, pickled carrots, radishes, greens, tofu marinated with a spicy peanut sauce, crunchy sweet sprouts, and a sesame ginger vinaigrette
Raw Vegan Chocolate Truffles: made with raw cacao, cacao butter, coconut oil, and agave
Life Alive currently has locations in Central Square in Cambridge, in Salem, and in Lowell. They are working on a location that will be opening across from the Agannis Arena on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston that is expected to open up this winter. I’m so excited for them!
