I had a great dinner this weekend at Worden Hall in Southie, an awesome American restaurant with over 40 drafts on tap, 100 whiskeys, and a menu filled with everything from house-made pretzels, to steamed pork buns, to seared scallops.
When I visited with my friend this weekend we started with one of their beer flights, their house-made pretzel, pulled pork sliders, and the raw and roasted Brussels sprouts salad. Everything was great, but I especially loved the salad, which came with crispy Spanish chorizo, toasted sunflower seeds, aged sheep’s milk cheese, and an orange fennel vinaigrette.
Then, for our main entrees, I went with one of the specials for the night — a butternut squash pappardelle, which was a perfect fall dish. My friend went with the perfectly indulgent Jay Walker’s Cheesesteak complete with thinly sliced sirloin, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, and dirty beer cheese sauce. For good measure, we got a side of roasted beets.
Even though we were stuffed, we had to make room for dessert! Worden Hall has an awesome Churro Sundae, complete with malted vanilla ice cream, caramel popcorn, pumpkin seed brittle, chocolate ganache, and apple cider caramel, tucked inside a little churro bowl. It was as good as it looks!
We also tried the peanut butter and chocolate ice cream sandwich, which I loved as well.
