I had an awesome time this week heading to Portland, Maine for a few days with my friend, checking out some excellent restaurants around town.
I was so excited about the dinner I had at Woodford Food & Beverage, a wonderful bar and restaurant serving delicious steak and seafood. I learned that where the restaurant is located was actually the original site of the first Valle’s Steak House, a popular chain of restaurants that operated from 1933 to 2000 on the East Coast.
Woodford F&B is also one of the first restaurants to open up in a less frequented area of Portland, Woodfords Corner.
When I visited we started our dinner with some cocktails and a few hors d’oeuvres — Oysters Rockefeller, Classic Deviled Eggs, and the Deep Fried Brussels Sprouts. Everything was incredibly tasty, and I realized how much I missed Deviled Eggs, especially when they’re done right.
For our entrees, my friend went with the Steak & Fries, and I went with the Burger. It was a brisket burger complete with smoked bacon, grilled sweet onion, cheddar cheese, house made pickles, and dijonnaise on a sesame seed bun.
The burger was so perfect. It was one of those great melt-in-your-mouth experiences, and it was just what I wanted on a cold day and after driving up from Boston.
For dessert, we went with chocolate pudding, the apple and cranberry fruit crispy, and a warm chocolate brownie. We paired it with one of their dessert cocktails — the beautiful and delicious Pink Grasshopper.
You can check out Woodford F&B’s full menu here. They’re located at 660 Forest Ave in Portland, Maine. Make sure it’s on your list for your next foodie excursion to Portland.
And stay tuned for more photos coming from my wonderful trip to Portland.
