I had an awesome time this weekend checking out Shaking Crab’s new location in Cambridge. They opened up last month right by the Porter Square T-station.
If you’re not familiar with the Shaking Crab concept, it’s a cajun seafood restaurant. They serve lots of different types of seafood — lobster, crawfish, several different types of crab, mussels, clams, and more. If you’ve been to this type of restaurant before, you know that they often serve the seafood in plastic bags, which helps keep the food insulated. Shaking Crab is also giving their guests an option for bowls instead of bags, in an attempt to try to reduce waste (I love this!).
When I visited with my friends we opted for three different types of seafood bowls — crawfish, shrimp, and Dungeness crab. We loved all of it! Can you believe how huge that crab is?!
Shaking Crab also has some pretty impressive sides and drinks. For sides, we went with garlic noodles, garlic mac n’ cheese, and cajun fries.
For drinks, we got a beer flight and tried the adorable Fisherman’s Punch Bowl.
We also tried one of their Po’ Boy sandwiches, the Shrimp Po’ Boy, which was delicious.
Check out Shaking Crab Cambridge at 1815 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge. They have other Massachusetts locations in Newton and Quincy, and one coming soon to Boston Common. Check out their website here for more info.
