When I heard that the team behind Southie’s Lincoln, Loco, and Capo was opening a sushi spot, I was thrilled. I always have a great time at their restaurants, and I’ve been excited to check out Fat Baby since it opened in December. Their menu features a wide range of sushi, Southeast Asian inspired dishes, and some super fun cocktails. I love the concept and they have a beautiful space right by their other three restaurants on West Broadway.
When I checked it out last weekend with my friend, we started with some of their cocktails — the Sake Sangria and the 8PM Taco, a super pretty and tasty drink made with tequila, lime, lychee, and an apple and cranberry reduction.
Then a few of their snacks — the Chicken Bahn Mi Bao, the Jambalaya Fried Rice, and the Pork Katsu BBQ Ribs.
The star of the menu is of course, the sushi. I was so impressed by the beautiful plating and our sashimi platter, which was put together by Fat Baby’s impressive sushi chef, Kegan Stritchko, who was most recently at UNI.
For dessert, a super delicious fried banana with a caramel dipping sauce.
Check out Fat Baby’s full menu here. They’re located at 118 Dorchester Street in South Boston. I can’t wait to go back soon!
