Dinner at Bambara + Staycation at Kimpton Marlowe Hotel
April 26, 2018
I had so much fun this weekend doing a little staycation at the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel in Cambridge and having dinner at their restaurant, Bambara! If you haven’t visited before, I definitely recommend it — their menu is filled with delicious pasta dishes, fresh seafood, and so much more.
When I visited this weekend, we started our evening with some cocktails and wine at Bambara, and we got to make some gnocchi with Bambara’s Chef David Barzigan.
After that, we started our dinner with some oysters and charcuterie, and bread. One of my absolute favorite things at the restaurant is their Choereg bread, which is an Armenian bread, and this one at Bambara was adapted from one of Chef David Bazirgan’s family recipes. It’s topped with Za’atar and comes with a whipped cream butter. I could eat it every single day!
We also enjoyed some of Bambara’s delicious starters — salmon ceviche, confit octopus, some grilled asparagus, and more.
Then, onto the pasta. The gnocchi that we worked so diligently on making was paired a delicious pesto sauce.
For our mains, we went with the Swordfish Piccata, the Cider Brined Pork Chop, and the Salmon.
All of them were as delicious as they are beautiful, and I especially loved the Swordfish, which was complete with a fregola sarda, roasted fennel, and capers.
For dessert, basically my two favorite things — donuts (the most delicious pear preserve beignets) and chocolate cake! I always find myself wishing for a warm chocolate cake that’s not super dense and dark, and this one really satisfied that craving for me. Pairing it with passion fruit ice cream, macadamia nuts, and roasted white chocolate made it even better.
And it was so nice at the end of the night to just go and hang out in our room at the hotel afterwards, and relax. Our room had a beautiful view of the Charles River, and because it was so nice out, we woke up to lots of boats sailing!
You can check out Bambara’s full menu here, and more on the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel including room rates and availability here. It’s the perfect spot for a little staycation or out-of-towners visiting friends or family and looking for a spot with a a great view of the Charles and a great restaurant.
