I had a wonderful dinner last week at Porto, an awesome restaurant in the Back Bay from Jody Adams and her team behind TRADE. It was my first time visiting Porto since checking them out a few months after they opened in the summer of 2016, and I am obsessed with all of the new additions that they’ve made to the menu!
And I’m so excited to tell you more about Toast, my partner for this post, and Porto’s point of sale (POS) and management system. For those who aren’t industry folks and might not be familiar with what a POS system is, in a restaurant setting it’s basically the system that processes your payment when you dine. POS systems can also email and text receipts, analyze sales data, and help make operational improvements at restaurants. A good POS system can basically make or break the operations at a restaurant, and toast helps bustling restaurants like Porto keep their establishments running smoothly.
Anyway, more on my delicious dinner at Porto! Their menu is complete with lots of Meze, or Mediterranean small plates. As someone who always loves trying a bunch of different things when I go out to eat, this is my favorite way to dine! And Porto has so many delicious small plates that it was hard to choose!
My friend and I started with some of Porto’s beautiful cocktails. We went with the #RAPCAVIAR and #SUTTONFROSÉ. If you like fruity and refreshing drinks (like me!), then Porto is your spot — their cocktail menu is filled with drinks that are made with lots of summer fruit — pineapple, lime, lemon, passion fruit, and more.
For food, we decided to go with a bunch of different items from the Meze menu including the Street Corn, the Eggplant Chips, two Lobster Lettuce Wraps, Grilled Octopus, Shrimp Saganaki, Arancini, Grilled Lamb Chops, and the Hiramasa Ceviche. What a spread!
Everything was delicious, but I have to say that the Shrimp Saganaki was one of my favorites — it’s a greek dish complete with shrimp, tomatoes, feta, and ouzo.
Then, dessert! We loved their Mocha Ice Cream Cake which comes with a chocolate drizzle that turns into a frozen shell!
We also tried their Berries & Cream, and their super refreshing Passion Fruit Pavlova, complete with coconut and berries.
Check out Porto for dinner, brunch, or drinks on Ring Road in Boston’s Back Bay. It’s the perfect time to enjoy their beautiful patio.
